May 9th, 2016 - Holy ¡Frío! :j

I don't know how to address these anymore.... I love you all haha

Right so these past few weeks I have been focusing a TON on exact obedience. You wouldn't believe how difficult it can be at times to turn even the smallest of weaknesses of yours over to the Lord and enjoy the blessings that come. It can be pretty tough for me as a photographer at times to leave a perfect photo op so I can focus more on the Lord's work, or wake up just a tad bit earlier so I can get to my studies on time. I've attached a pic of our daily schedule for those of you that aren't too familiar with it.... I'd invite you to try to follow a few parts of it if you're a go getter haha because it can be pretty tough at times.... the perk is that I always get 8 solid hours of sleep though and almost always feel awake when I get up and knock out when my head hits the pillow at night. Anyway, the exact obedience will hopefully help me start having a few more baptisms.

I just finished reading the Book of Mormon in English and Spanish at the same time this past Saturday night. Pretty cool how another language can really make your Book of Mormon studies more profound. I invite as always to read and pray about the Book of Mormon with real intent, a sincere heart, and faith in Jesus Christ, meditating the message it contains to see if it is true for yourself or renew your testimony.

Right so I've realized that Bolivian wintertime is pretty much just a huge Argentinian cold front that blows up here from the south for about a month or two. It's ROUGH though haha, when you get so used to how hot it is all the time down here then a humid bone chilling cold hits..... you die! haha I'm wearing just about all the clothes I brought in my suitcase.

I'm so grateful for the changes the mission is bringing about in me and the same great changes I have the chance to bring to others out here. Tarija is way cool and actually pretty chilly until the end of June. There is NOTHING in the world that can make you love life and prepare for it, like a mission does.Transfers will be on June 1st. I miss and love you all! Thank you for all your emails, prayers, letters, packages, etc.

Love,

Elder Van Horne

May 2nd, 2016 - As Bolivian as it Gets

Here's my sweet life bucket list pic.... can't even explain the victory dance I did after I got this. Edited just slightly to see the lightning better. :)

Yes that's about as Bolivian as it gets.... cooking chirriadas (Bolivian corn batter pancakes) over a stone on an open fire flipping it with a machete. Sweet family home evening activity yesterday.... sorry for not the prettiest face, there was a good amount of smoke haha.

Dalcy and Edson got married! Sorry for the blurriness..... it was a little hectic haha first wedding for my companion and I. Exact obedience and fasting pays off!
